The Vernon family, owners of The Bar-B-Q Shop, have been making Memphis's best barbecue for more than twenty-five years, and twenty of those years have been spent in their midtown Memphis location. The Vernons began their career in barbecue at the world famous Brady and Lil's on South Parkway, in Memphis.
In 2008, The Bar-B-Q Shop was a winner in the Memphis Flyer Best of Memphis Reader's Poll in the category of Best Barbecue, and won the Silver Award for Best Barbecue Sandwich in the 2007 Memphis magazine Reader's Restaurant Poll.
